How our rankings work:
There are many variations of late-game dragon boards but the one above is currently regarded as the best by far. Hopefully in the future we can get more variation with the upcoming balance patches.
Strongest variation of Xayah. AD items on Xayah, Tank items on Jayce and AP items on Shyvanna/Jayce. An expensive board (96g) that requires you to roll on 8 to with a lot of gold to hit.
A very strong and relatively cheap mid-game board that stabilizes very early. Will stabilize a lot longer with a Guild Emblem on Xayah but you still want Shyvanna over Zippy on your late-game board.
Best played when there is a shimmer item to take advantage of (Draven’s Axe, Mogul’s Mail, Gambler’s Blade) or you have good Idas items (Warmogs, Gargoyles, Dclaw, Bramble).
The standard Lagoon comp with Sohm and Nilah as the carries. Switch out units based on conditions such as items, augments and economy. Nilah can hold virtually any AD item so prioritize items for Sohm who needs a BB to function without other forms of mana regeneration like ‘Cyber Uplink’, ‘Axiom Arc’ or ‘Blue Battery’.
There are a lot of variations you can play based on if Nomsy is a mage or not or if you have a mage/lagoon spat. Without a spat this comp forgoes Nilah and relies on Sohm to be the sole carry with Nomsy’s assistance if itemized and present.
An option that opens up with at least 1 lagoon spat. This requires an early lagoon start to transition into this cheap board and tempo into a 3* carry like Sohm, Nilah or Serpahine. Most times you want to pivot into 6 lagoon and play stronger units like Bard and Zoe in the late-game.
Your classic Nomsy board when they retain the ‘Mage’ trait. This board is very flexible with many flex options and outs. If you can somehow 3* nomsy playing 7 Mages with a Zoe is your goal. Other than that you want to eventually pivot completely off and play a Legendary Dragon board with a unit like Ao Shin taking Nomsy items. If not it’s still a pretty safe top 4.
Lux needs Shojin or a Blue Buff to function. Vladmir is your carry in the early game. Either itemize him with tank items or make a bunch of ZZ’rot’s and Protector’s Vow’s. Don’t push levels without 3*-ing your Vladmir or Skarner’s first as they become quite difficult to hit.
Playing Lux reroll in a Mage Nomsy lobby is generally not recommended.
A variation of Nomsy mages that makes use of duplicated of ZZ’rots or Protector’s Vow. Makes of use of an uncontested unit in Swain and becomes a lot stronger with augments like Better Together.
An extremely cheap board that stabilizes hard early with aura items like Protector’s Vow and Zeke’s. The strongest variation is with Graves.
A variation of Lagoon Graves if you hit Nilah first or don’t hit Graves on your roll-down. Instead of selling a Nilah 2* to remove items when you do find a Graves play both utilizing the extra Shimmerscale item. Although not as nearly as good as the original solo-graves variation Nilah holds very similar items and can stem your HP loss for a long while.
Bard and Yasuo are not require and can be played at 8/9 when hit, usually you want to play a Qiyana or another assassin until then. When solo carrying Nilah items matter significantly as you lose the match the moment Nilah falls. You want one healing (HOJ highly preferred) + EON and TR for a number of reasons.
Depending on the Mirage and Shimmerscale items you can either play 5 Shimmerscale or 6 Mirage. You can also forego both and just play strong units like more guardians/cavalier’s, 5-costs and guild units if both the mirage and shimmer items are not needed.
Becomes a lot stronger with a Guild Emblem on Daeja. This can easily fast tempo into a legendary dragon board.
The vertical shimmer scale comp of this set. Other 9 shimmer comps can be played as well but this is the safest and most reliable comp due to the amount of stall and overlap between units. Can only be played with a Shimmer heart + 1 Shimmer spat.
In general Shimmerscale is placed in A tier due to how strong it’s openers and late-games can be. This is just an example of a 9 Shimmer board and an infinite amount of variations at 3/5/7/9 are played within numerous comps.
There are many possible variations given the right circumstance. The 4/4 Scalescorn/Warrior build is the most consistent and commonly played. Variations are based of what you hit and what your spot looks like.
Stabilize with 4 Scalescorns and then fit in 4 warriors when possible, if you have or almost have Diana 3* stay on 4 Scalescorns.
A level 8 Jade board. Play from ahead or you won’t have the economy to hit or make use of the shimmer scale item on SOY. Can easily pivot into Shyvanna late into the game by selling SOY+Gnar and putting AD items on Yasuo and AP items on Shyvanna.
The best Jade board. Due to it’s cheapness can be played from ahead or behind. Having a Jade emblem as pictured above can allow you to drop any jade unit you don’t need.
You want to stabilize early and transition into the Default Jade board or go 9 and pivot into a Legendary Dragon board.
Highly dependent on the 2nd Shimmer item and augments allowing you to play much stronger boards with Jade/Shimmer emblems.
As shown above, requires at least 2 Jade emblems to justify a strong board with 9 Jade. Clearly falls off in the late game so play 7 Jade by dropping Wukong + Jax and play worthwhile units. You can also drop Gnar + Wukong for Shyvanna.
One of Jade’s strengths are the sheer versatility of it’s boards and it’s ability to slot in up to 4 Mystics easily. This board can be easily played in AP heavy lobbies with AD items on SOY and AP items on Seraphine. Bard can be fit at 7/8 over a unit like Zyra. You can also play Varus over Zyra depending on where you want the CC.
A lot stronger with the Guild Emblem as usual. Itemize either SOY or Zippy as your carry and Jayce or Zippy as your tank. One or the other, don’t make Zippy both.
For all whisper boards you just play 6 Whispers + 3 because none of the units can function without 6 apparently. Whisper + 4 Bruisers is pretty solid at the moment which utilizes a team effort of Zyra + Pantheon + Sy’fen triple carry. Really needs CB or Thrill for it to top 4. Bis Sy’fen is TG with healing items on Pantheon. AD items like Rageblade and Runaan’s go on Zyra because she is not balanced.
Whisper Evoker Nomsy
The Guardian variation is better for Nomsy Evokers during 12.18. Might change with the Sy’fen buffs next patch. The mage variation looks promising as well.
Theres like an infinite amount of Dragonmancer boards and they all look the same. Just stack dragonmancers vertically and a tempest or 2 for Lee Sin. All Shimmerscale dragonmancer boards will be under ‘Shimmerscale”.
Requires a ‘uncraftable item’ to be sacrificed for this comp to really work. You can do this by sacrificing a FON, emblem, Ornn item like Randuin’s or Radiant item like Banshee’s Claw or any other uncraftable item. Play multiple Rengar’s untill you 3* him then fill up the empty slots with Guild units, Terra and/or other 5-costs. This comp becomes a lot stronger with Double Trouble.
Chalices/Zekes are used to empower all three of your main Evokers at once. Shimmer item matters somewhat with Goldmancer being best and Draven’s Axe being worst. This comps can either play for stall or burst depending on your itemization.
The issue with this board is the awkward setup as it wants you to roll at 7 for the units but doesn’t stabilize well until most units are upgraded resulting in a very expensive board that youre stuck on until you go 8 for Pantheon/Bard.
Just play 6 Cannoneers with front line like Hecarim or Idas or Swain. A lot better with emblems to get rid of Zeri or Senna or Aphelios.
